3 Questions with Julien Sprecher, Creative Director of Parfums de Marly

Haltane is an original scent of both radiance and shadow. Its composition features a blend of rare and noble ingredients which revisit the tradition of 18th century French perfume making.

Like yourself, our team at Amaris are intrigued behind the creative processes for the new scent, Haltane. We had the opportunity to deep dive with Julien Sprecher, Creative Director of Parfums de Marly.

What was the inspiration behind this new fragrance?

JS: I wanted to create an exceptional masculine fragrance that was all about contrasts. Radiance and shadow, freshness and sophistication, traditional savoir-faire and innovation… A fragrance for a gentleman of today, inspired by the “gentilhommes” of the Chateau de Marly in the 18th century.

Why did you choose to build the fragrance around precious woods?

JS: Precious woods are emblematic ingredients of Haute Parfumerie, but they are also an ode to the wonders of nature and an homage to the forests surrounding the Château de Marly. This castle was designed to blend into nature and king Louis XV had an extreme fascination for it, spending entire days in the woods.

Who is the perfumer behind Haltane?

JS: I chose Jordi Fernández to express my vision of Haltane. His deep passion for and expertise in oud fragrances find an original expression in this contemporary composition.
